Quote of the Day
Jan 31st 2005MichaelQuote of the Day
“It has been my experience that folks who have no vices have very few virtues.”
Abraham Lincoln
If you don’t take a job as a prostitute, we can stop your benefits
This is the enlightened world of Germany.
A 25-year-old waitress who turned down a job providing “sexual services” at a brothel in Berlin faces possible cuts to her unemployment benefit under laws introduced this year.
Prostitution was legalised in Germany just over two years ago and brothel owners – who must pay tax and employee health insurance – were granted access to official databases of jobseekers.
The waitress, an unemployed information technology professional, had said that she was willing to work in a bar at night and had worked in a cafe.
She received a letter from the job centre telling her that an employer was interested in her “profile” and that she should ring them. Only on doing so did the woman, who has not been identified for legal reasons, realise that she was calling a brothel.
This is almost funny. I wonder if the woman is moving out of country? but wait, there’s more:
Under Germany’s welfare reforms, any woman under 55 who has been out of work for more than a year can be forced to take an available job – including in the sex industry – or lose her unemployment benefit. Last month German unemployment rose for the 11th consecutive month to 4.5 million, taking the number out of work to its highest since reunification in 1990.
The government had considered making brothels an exception on moral grounds, but decided that it would be too difficult to distinguish them from bars. As a result, job centres must treat employers looking for a prostitute in the same way as those looking for a dental nurse.
Go read the rest and be glad you don’t live there.

Who is missing in todays great victory in Iraq.
I have been busy reading more blogs and news sources today than doing anything else.
It hit me that there are several things missing in this great day.
first I think there are many thanks to other groups that need to be made.
1. Thank you Iraqis for risking your lives to make it to Vote. For without you showing up to vote much of our efforts would not have been as successful.
2. Thank you Coalition Member Nations.
3. Thank you to each and every person that has served on the ground, or in support of people on the ground.
4. Thank you to Every person that shows support for the people doing the work.
And not to leave out the rest:
5. Thank you Big Media for Showing your true slant and goals, we now see that you are against America and it is best to at least know.
6. And finally thank you France, Germany, and Russia for showing the world your true colors and staying out of the way you lying thieving pigs.
While America might have the most members committed to Iraq. It is important that every nation that is supporting this fight on Terror is recognized for their efforts.
Even the nations that have pulled out of Iraq before now, Thank you.

Comparison: Abu Ghraib & Paul Johnson
Michael Jones at the Armageddon Project has a comparisonon the lies that the left is claiming (i.e. Americans are just like the Terrorist).
I, like Mr. Jones, am sick and tired of the blind people talking crap with no facts.

1) Condi didn’t lie
2) Bush acted on the best intelligence available
3) WMDs were by no means the only reason to remove Saddam
4) The Iraq war, contrary to repeated and shrill accusations from the Left and the mainstream press, is part and parcel of the War on Terrorism
5) There was no “rush to war”
6) The elections in Iraq—…—will take place as scheduled this Sunday
Joseph McCarthy
Jan 29th 2005MichaelPro America
What is the ACLU doing throwing mud at Sen Joseph McCarthy still.
Why is ACLU and many schools teaching our kids that Joseph McCarthy was a bad spot in American History.
It was a bad time for America because we were at war with Communism and the Democratic Party was helping them to control our Government.
Nearly 40 years after the death of Senator Joseph R. McCarthy, twice-elected United States Senator from Wisconsin, the term “McCarthyism” is still widely used as a convenient epithet for all that is evil and despicable in the world of politics. Hardly a month passes without some reference to “McCarthyism” in the print or electronic media. Despite the frequency with which the term is invoked, however, it is quite clear that not one critic of McCarthy in a hundred has the slightest idea of what he said and did during that controversial period from 1950 to 1954.
And don’t forget that Sen Joseph McCarthy is a former Marine.
McCarthy enlisted in the Marines and was sworn in as a first lieutenant in August 1942. He served as an intelligence officer for a bomber squadron stationed in the Solomon Islands, and also risked his life by volunteering to fly in the tail-gunner’s seat on many combat missions. Those who quibble about the number of combat missions he flew miss the point - he didn’t have to fly any.
Lt McCarthy has an award from Admiral Chester Nimitz that states that “Tail Gunner Joe” was more than the movies ever showed. the smear process was so long and so efficient.
But we still have many smear tactics that are against Sen McCarthy. See here and here
In reading the information above I notice that all of the facts are taken form news reports and not official documents. Now the question is how bad was the media back 50 years ago? Were they as bad and biased as they are today?
What is the other side this say? There is a site that focuses on issues and are PRO-AMERICA. Here is the site they have for Sen McCarthy
OK they are the far right. but they have some good facts and links to historical documents.
This is a work in proccess. There is a lot of stuff out there. I am going to continue to dig and find historical documents and post them so we can make a judgment on the facts and get away from smearing.
If you know of any good sites that have some information please leve me a note in the comments.

A Leftist Critique of the Left
Marc Schulman posted a A Leftist Critique of the Left from Dissent and has one coment that covers this topic well.
In short, it’s oxymoronic to describe today’s left as “progressive.”
go read the rest and do not come back crying.
It is amazing what you find on the blogsphere these days.

Off topic, I have a question for you
Jan 29th 2005MichaelGeek Stuff
I have been looking for a place to load digital pictures (not of me, your welcome) to with the ability to link the images into my blog. Does anyone have or know of one that they love that is really inexpensive?
I am just a cheap bastard (pardon my French).
I have tried the Zoto Beta test and liked many parts of it. it was just not complete yet.
I started to try flickr but did not get very far.
Is there any other photo hosting sites that anyone uses that they really like and that they can direct link to from a blog?
thanks for your input.
Update 30 January 2005: I found a site Called Free Image Hosting that has rating for image hosting services.
It I have to do more research but looks like a good start.
The Shame of the University of Colorado
This is just pathetic. Ward Churchill should be fired. If you are alumni you should call and write the school and withdrawal all financial support for the school until this anti-American socialist is fired.
I have copied the whole piece into the extended part of the post.
I am glad that I did not know this before. This just goes to show you what the higher education is teaching our kids.
Read it and understand.
