OK this lesson is the two basic types of guys . Grenade in the bunker (GITB) guys are control the scene and take no prisoners. Quiet and aloof (QAA) guys are just that quite and in the back ground.

Very often I have heard how Mr. X has turned into a domineering, and controlling individual. Mr. X displays an attitude of superiority or indifference to the others feelings or concerns. When asking how they got together more often than not the story eventually describes an initial meeting as being a G.I.T.B. experience.

I disagree with this:

Q.A.A. guy is a firm believer that it is virtually impossible to put his foot in a closed mouth

Because all of us guys have foot in mouth disease.

Here is my take on these two types of guys.

First I need to put myself in context. I am a former Marine, Cowboy, Pilot, Construction worker, Systems architect, not to mention I am 6′6 at 240#. I have lots of confidence and bravado when the situation requires it. But I think I fit more in the QAA mold these days.

OK so I have a buddy that is 5′7 160# and he is the basic GITB guy. They buddy is loud and quite funny and always the instigator. We are friends because to me, many women while they like the confident loud types to help boost there self image they do not typically hook up with them. To my advantage the ones he picks up on are weeded out of the noise. I am also not intimidated or mocked by him as he makes others the butt of his jokes.

Most QAA types also can move into the GITB type when there is a target that they are interested in. Age also has something to do with determining the type most men are. When I was 18-30 I might have been closer to the GITB type because I was on a mission. Now days I am more QAA because I have successfully completed more missions and my target type has changed.

My buddy is my age but has not completed as many missions and he is still a GITB type. When we go out he is constantly on the prowl and I have had some of my girlfriends tell me they do not like when he is around now that we are all older. He has been busted a couple times as a ‘Cock Block’ by other buddies and now these buddies refuse to invite him to parties. While he makes a party wherever he goes, he is black listed.

Now I being more of a QAA type I find many times I get women coming over to me in social situations. The type of women that I attract is not as flighty and insecure as the girls that my buddy attracts. Sometimes that is a bummer; many times it is not. I have been very happy although I have not found the one for me. My buddy is never happy with the girl situation and is always in boom or bust mode. Even when he is dating a girl he is acting the GITB mode and looking for another girl as he knows the other girl will leave soon.

Now if I could just find the one.
