“They (female Marines) don’t have a nickname, and they don’t need one. They get their basic training in a Marine atmosphere, at a Marine Post. They inherit the traditions of the Marines. They are Marines.”
– Lt. Gen. Thomas Holcomb, 17th Commandant of the Marine Corps, 1943

Now that, is very interesting. To be honest, I had never thought of what a female marine would be called. Are there different names for women in the other three services? I apologize if I sound stupid, I just don’t know.

We actualy used to call them Women Marines, or WM for short. Women in the Navy were called Waves, and I don’t remember the names used in the army or Air Force.
