Marine Sniper Staff Sgt. Steve Reichert Awarded Bronze Star

Marine Corps Times has the story of Staff Sgt. Steve Reichert who was awareded the Bronze Star for valor in Iraq.
This is not an award that is handed out for just being there. This is an award for putting his life on the line

In the after-action report, the platoon leader noted something remarkable: Reichert made the shot from 1,614 meters, about a mile away. His accuracy was the deciding factor in the outcome of the firefight.

That is just an incridile distance to hit a target.
