Last night

Last night, I meet up with my old Marine Buddy, E.R. I first meet ER at 29 palms in ‘86 going to MOS school. We meet in the e-club and talked a lot about getting drunk and chasing women, while we got drunk. At 0700 the next morning we were formed into the same platoon for our school. Turned out there were only 12 of us going to this school out of the 2000 students at MCCECS After graduating from Air Schools we had our choice of duty stations and we both decided to do our first tour in Okinawa Japan. We got together only twice over the this tour in the far east. After 2 months on the Island of Okinawa and 9 months in South Korea, Philippine Islands, Thailand, Australia, and a couple other countries I was then transferred to Yuma AZ.

ER came to Yuma 30 days after I me and became my room mate. Over the next three years we spent 9 months out of each year in one desert or another around the world. We ruled a local bar “Johnny’s” when we were in town (at least we thought so). And Winterhaven after last call (state line/ time zone). We would work hard and play harder. Our CO was a mustang Colonel that demanded perfection and also liked to party hard.

We passed many Friday inspections because the beer was locked in a fridge in a wall locker and the other wall became a collage of chick pic’s that everyone would stop to check out. We had a couple playmates pinned within the collage on the wall to see if someone would spot them. Around this collage we had Christmas lights and would listen to Led Zeppelin while drinking Jack and Coors. There was always competition on strength and fighting skills and furniture would loose the battle quite often.

Last night it was easy to go right back to the old ways and we drank a few to many drinks again. We talked about our other band of brothers and now we need to go to San Deigo to see another brother. Tracy is going to get drunk with us at least once over the summer in Mission Bay

God I love America and the Marine Corps

Aren’t old friends cool? I love mine. Going back over the good ole days and drinking and dancing. And looking forward to what’s to come.

    Hey Michael,

Nothing like retracing old steps with a brother Marine. Have fun. Take care. Be safe. Semper Fidelis.
