Arrogance

You cannot exaggerate about the Marines. They are convinced to the point of arrogance, that they are the most ferocious fighters on earth- and the amusing thing about it is that they are.

    When you’re right, it’s not arrogance. :)

It’s not arrogance at all. It’s fact. It’s why I mess with the best.

They are the best fighters, and it isn’t arrogance for them to state so…nothing wrong with pride for something like that. I’m in the Air Force, and my neighbor is a Marine…great guy! I have however met quite a few individuals that are arrogant that happen to be Marines. But I’ve met quite a few arrogant people in all walks of life.

Now Jay. :) Just because they’re Marines doesn’t make them arrogant. I see it more as confidence in themselves; as well as their uncanny abilty to look out for and depend upon one another. Close knit and self sufficient. I guess that could come across as arrogant, but it isn’t.

No, no…you misunderstood…not arrogant because they are marines. Just stating that I’ve met some arrogant marines…probably just arrogant by their own nature.

OK Jay. I get just a little tiny bit defensive about them.

MajGen Ralph Lowe, USA (White House Observer) said it best: “The safest place in Korea was right behind a squad of Marines.” Arrogance? Nah. Substance.

It sounds like Maj Gen. Lowe was hanging out behind my dad!

He was up at the Chosin when a buddy stepped on a mine in front of him. It blew out most of his teeth, and knocked him out.

As he told me, “It was a day later, and the next thing I know there’s this army medic shaking me back to consciousness. He says, “Hey buddy, are you ok?”

I’m covered in blood, and lying in the snow, and he asks “Are you ok?”

“So I punched him in the nose.”
