Benedict XVI Formally Installed as Pope

Fox news had this Story on Pope Benedict XVI.

VATICAN CITY - Pope Benedict XVI (search) thanked journalists Saturday for their coverage during the “historically important” events during the papal transition, urged them to remember their ethical responsibilities and said he hoped to continue his predecessor’s tradition of openness with the media.

This is the start of a papacy that starts under the spin of the media. This media in America has started with spinning the fact of the election of Pope Benedict XVI as a bad thing. They say he is to conservative. He needs to be more open to what people (Liberal Americans) want. I say NO. They should do what they have always done. He was elected by the church leaders because of who he is. Not by the people. The Papacy is not a democracy, or a republic. It is the church. I have had talks with some catholic friends and some like the election, and some don’t, but all are very respectful and happy that the leadership position of the church is filled.

I like the fact that the church made its choice for the church and not for what the Muslims, Buddhist, or what the leadership of any one country wanted. It is about keeping the church strong. Fixing the problems that the church is dealing with now, and making sure the faith is there for the next generation. It is not about what the current media hype topic is about at the moment.

I happen to be a member of the Lutheran church of America. We are reformists. But I do believe in many of the foundations of the Roman Catholic Church. Pope Benedict XVI has some challenges to deal with. I for one would like the child abuse scandal to be handled with equity. This is the priests that are accused should be dealt with in the same manor as people in the church that gets a divorce. The should be ex-communicated immediately and turned over to the local law. These are people and they will be the death of the Church if the church tries to hide and PROTECT these evil men. God might forgive them but Man should not protect them.

I also like the fact that the pope has a sense of humor. He is human.

He read portions of his speech in Italian, English, French and his native German, joking that “since we are in Rome” he had to return to Italian.

No matter what the left/Liberal/Progressives/ Democrats/Socialists think this Pope is a good man. He is not the “Nazi” or “German Shepard” that they are calling him. He is a Christian with deep beliefs in God and Gods love.

Pope Benedict XVI has responded firmly to the first challenge of his papacy by condemning a Spanish government bill allowing marriage between homosexuals. Looks like Pope Benedict has put a stake in the ground and is standing by it. It is driving the typical Democrats mad.

Mike I was raised Baptist, but lemme just say that I LOVE THIS POPE ALREADY!. I love what he had to say about Turkey. I love what he had to say about granting communion to John Kerry. I love it that he represents everything his home country of Germany detests. And most of all, I love him because the MSM hates his guts.

    Mike,

It was interesting to be sitting in a Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod) and praying for the Catholic Pope. This Pope is like Bush in that (1) he says what he means, (2) he means what he says, and (3) the left hates him so much they have lost all ability to think rationally.

If the left doesn’t like him, he’s cool with me. I’m a Catholic but not very much into religion at all.

Unlike Raven, I’m a Catholic very much into my faith…

And I’m very happy to see rational non-Catholics making rational evaluations like yours. Benedict is indeed a good man who will serve humanity well.

    God’s Will be done.
