Within the rules of engagement, because it showed one human taking another human life Americans freaked out. Well that is what we do in war. The tape was a pathetic attempt to claim impartial judgment and respect at the same time. I also think it was ok for the Marine Corps to investigate and come to its own conclusion in the mater. The evidence was not against the Marine in what was released.
If there was wrong doing the Marine Corps would have dealt with him in real terms.
In the past I said here
and here
that the Marine Corps would look into the facts.
I still don’t believe Kevin based on his post after he rushed the released the tape to the news groups. The Marine Corps holds there own to higher standards that the civilian organizations do. If they didn’t they would become a part of the Army.
A review of the evidence showed the Marine’s actions in the shooting were “consistent with the established rules of engagement and the law of armed conflict,” Maj. Gen. Richard F. Natonski (search), commanding general of the 1st Marine Division (search), said in a statement.
I said back then:
These are extraordinary men in a hard place to live and with a purpose of closing with and destroying the enemy. They are there to do a job and that is not a easy job. There job does not allow them to second guess there actions. Actions are always better than second guessing.
