Raven has some information via Redstate.org ong the FEC proposed rulemaking that wants to curtail the right of private citensines to to meet together on line and comment about political issues, parties, and politicians them selves. Now this is only the latest attempt to stop people from joining together have discusions on politicals issues.

Go write a letter to the FEC (email is fine) about how you feel about your rights to join groups and talk about your political thoughts.

Time is running out. The public comment period for the FEC’s proposed rulemaking regarding your freedom online ends on June 3rd. I can tell you that they have not yet received nearly as many comments as they expected.
There is a threat. You need to act.

More important - you as a blogger or just a reader have input the FEC needs. They need to know what sort of things you do (or will do) online. Do you raise funds for candidates? Do you have a group blog that might get a little revenue? Are you considering incorporating to protect yourself from liability?

You don’t have to be a lawyer to comment, and you don’t have to write 10 pages of legalese. Just send an email to internet@fec.gov and explain your concerns. If you’ve got any extra time you can actually skim the rule and see all the places that the FEC asks for comment.

    I sent the FEC a very nice, well written (and edited by someone else) letter about all this. June 3rd isn’t that far off…that is what some are calling B Day (Blog day)-when they make their final decisions about whether bloggers are free to write about their own political views. If they say NO, we will be limited in what we can and cannot blog about. If that day arrives, I stop blogging.

    If that day arrives I will keep commenting and be a part of the case that shows how it is un-constitutional.
    We will designate someone as editor and claim media status.

    God I am freaking out about this! If we’re not allowed any more freedom of speech, what are they going to do…come and arrest us like they did to the bloggers in Iran?

    Oh TherAYsa, get home and stop bitching about this. We want the bloggers to stop. Iran, YOU know, isn’t that bad of place. It’s like N Vietnam was when I was there. (oops did I just admit something??)
