Are we not all Americans?
It is the how that the most passionate disagreements come about. Not about the what. When it comes to politics Americans want most of same things. Americans want a safe place to raise a family, enjoy the land around us, and love freely. Americans want to pass on a better life to their children than they received. Americans want to feel safe. Americans want to help our neighbors. Americans want to be respected in what they are. These things are help by one group of people or another. Although we sometimes think they are and our side is the good side.
Many of us have friends that have points of views that differ from us. the politics of today are divisive in that the leaders need to demean the opponents in order to gain for themselves. That is today’s politics! It is not good to talk about what you are going to do as it is to talk about what your opponent is going to do wrong. That is the easy way out.
Now lets talk some of today’s political leaders. The honorable George W. Bush, President of the United States of American. President Bush has had some very specific ideals and direction that he talked about when he was first elected. Has he stayed the course? That depends on how you want to think of him. How about the Chairman of the Democratic National Committee former Governor Howard Dean. You might like him or dislike him based on what party you subscribe to. You might believe one way or another depending on who you listen to.
This has and is a divisive time in America. It is that way because of easy way to compete is to degrade the competition and we really need more ideas on direction that people can chose from. We all want to get to the same place. We want leaders that have a thought on how to get there. Then we want to evaluate the direction and make choice on how we think it should work. that is the system of politics that was defined in America. The problem is Americans always got into the middle of it. We will always mess it up a little. But with the fact that it is in constant change we are not able to mess it up beyond repair.
What about Race in America? There seems to be a lot of divisiveness based on race. With the Military background I don’t see race as an issue. Mostly because I feel more for Americans (used a lot in this post) than I do for any other nationality. It is really a great country that allows you to become equal to anyone else no mater what your ancestry is. Heck we will even find ways to celebrate your heritage.
God bless America, and may we start to look at what makes us similar and celebrate our differences. We have differences, but they are not as far as the politicos would have you think.
Are we not Americans? Are we not Brothers? Are we not able to talk about what we agree about? Lets be clear here. I want to hear how we could be better, but I am tired of hearing how we are wrong. Please offer me a solution not just some hot air.
What is so different between Democrats and Republicans?

As much as your “rant” has altuistic intent I think part of your premise may be incorrect. Historically American politics have been divisive and achieved by degrading the opponent. I will agree this seems to have gotten worse but has it? If you look back to the time of Abraham Lincoln things were pretty vicious with the papers. But then the information was slow to transmit and not all heard or read it. Then fast forward to WWII. The politics were pretty devisive then because conservatives were isolationists and didnot want to enter the war. Plus, FDR was pushing through The New Deal in the 30’s which was the start of the American Road to socialism. Then fast forward to the 50’s and you have the “McCarthy Era”. Most of what we learned in history class about McCarthy has been proven incorrect since there were many Communists in FDR’s administration and government itself. On another point, American no longer is the unified cultural society it once was, not due to immigration. But due to efforts to multiculturalize the country instead of acclimate and meld all together. This has created new factions without American interests at heart. Then there’s the 24 hour information age. People know more and politicians and media can’t pull off the same level of BS they have become accustomed to.
Can’t we all just come together?

You say that We all want the same things:
“When it comes to politics Americans want most of same things. Americans want a safe place to raise a family, enjoy the land around us, and love freely. Americans want to pass on a better life to their children than they received. Americans want to feel safe. Americans want to help our neighbors. Americans want to be respected in what they are.”
Sorry, but that is not true for the Lunatic Left (i.e., the Democratic Leadership and other commies).
They don’t want a safe place to let us raise our families — they want to control our children.
They don’t want us to enjoy the land — they want to rid the land of the plague of humans.
They don’t want us to love freely — they want us to be Balkinized into competing groups that are each grabbing for our share of their largess.
They don’t want to pass our children a better life — they want to shackle them with chains of restraints on their freedoms, taxes, and guilt.
They don’t want us to feel safe — they want us to feel ashamed for who we are. How DARE we think we’re as good as Europeans!
They don’t want to help our neighbors. They want to tax them to death (and tax them even more after their death!)
They don’t want America to be respected — they hate America and all it stands for. They want America to be reviled. (Think Michael Moore….)
Sorry, good sir, but I believe you are mistaken about our opponents. They have no good will. They are not yearning for the same things as you. In fact, to them, you are a baby-murdering Nazi.

But Ranten N. Raven, the Lunatic Left (DNC) is not American, unfortunately some people (gullible) seem to believe what they hear because it is easy and they are lazy. These people in the D party are leaving in droves because the party and its leaders are un-American and becoming un-hinged. We need to welcome them into the real world and they will see what America Stands for.
The DNC is Anti-American, but most of the people in the party are not. They just don’t know what they are doing. Ignorance is not excuse. But that is where they are.

I think the far left is trying like heck to make their case for the America they want to see (which is everything Ranten Raven spoke of…)These lunatics really are trying to divide America and it’s scary to see it happen…people are being brainwashed IMO.
I wish everyone would come together and kick the idiots away. Let the people tell the political animals how it’s done, not the other way ’round.
What should happen is issues should be laid out without bias or fear factor. Both sides would have to be willing to give up some control over things before they could come to consensus about what is best for America. And the people should have a real say in what is important. People are what make this country great…not the idiots who we vote into office (even though they are people too.)(oops there I go again with name calling…part of the problem).
I respect a lot of the ideals of the liberal mindset; I think the people who lean that way mean well and have hearts of gold…but they base their opinions of false information and mistruths and outright BS scare tactics. That has to stop. Before anything else can happen.
The issues have to framed without all the fancy dressings and fittings. Both sides are guilty of this.
