Osama Yo Mama: You’re Out
Jul 14th 2005RavenGeneral & War
Osama isn’t the MAN anymore. He’s OUT. Freedom is IN. And the liberals should stop whining about how the war in Iraq has created more terrorists and made the world more unsafe. Nothing is more powerful than people who are free, and people who appreciate their freedom will fight to keep it. The more free people in the world, the safer a place it will become.
Osama bin Laden’s standing has dropped significantly in some key Muslim countries, while support for suicide bombings and other acts of violence has “declined dramatically,” according to a new survey released today.
In a striking finding, predominantly Muslim populations in a sampling of six North African, Middle East and Asian countries are shared to “a considerable degree” Western nations’ concerns about Islamic extremism, the survey found. Many in those Muslim nations see it as threat to their own country, the poll found.
The fact that the Islamafreakoids are starting to piss off their fellow countrymen is a very good sign that something is going right.
Compared with previous surveys, the new poll also found growing majorities or pluralities of Muslims surveyed now say democracy can work in their countries and is not just a political system for the West. Support for democracy was in the 80 percent range in Indonesia, Jordan, Lebanon and Morocco; in Pakistan and Turkey, where significant numbers of respondents were unsure, it rated 43 percent and 48 percent respectively.
“They are not just paying lip service. They are saying they specifically want a fair judiciary, freedom of expression and more than one party to participate in elections. It wasn’t just a vague concept,” said Andrew Kohut, president of the Pew Research Center and director of the project. “U.S. and Western ideas about democracy have been globalized and are in the Muslim world.”
Freedom has a way of spreading itself. Freedom is no longer just that vague concept for many Muslim nations. It’s no longer a dream. And for those who want it, they will fight for it.
At the same time, however, most Muslims surveyed believe Islam is playing an increasing role in politics, which they view as a positive shift in response to economic problems, growing immorality and concern about Western influence. Jordan was the only exception to the trend.
Freedom comes with a price…but what is worse? Economic issues and immorality, vs. what many of the Muslims are living under now (Extremist leaders, public square stonings for simple crimes, no freedom to express yourself anywhere, women subjected to less than sub standard lives…)
There is a lot more to read on this poll, and it proves that the GWOT is starting to have a real effect on the world. It will be years before we see an end to the Extremist aspects of Islam, but at least people are beginning to see it for what it really is.
