Marine Special Operations Command (2)

WASHINGTON, Nov. 1 (UPI) — Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld Monday approved the creation of a new branch of special operations forces composed of U.S. Marines.

This will help the guys get better equipment. I hope it does not make them feel like they are special.

MARSOC headquarters will be organized at Camp LeJeune, N.C., where the Marine Corps has already been standing up a foreign military training unit. That effort will be wrapped into the new organization. Training foreign militaries is one of the primary functions of special forces units across the services.

MARSOC will be headed by Brig. Gen. Dennis Hejlik.

For the first time since the establishment of U.S. Special Operations Command, the Marine Corps has been given the go-ahead to establish a unit to deploy alongside Navy SEALs, Army Special Forces and Air Force Special Tactics units for commando missions.

I bet this was a hard choice to make.

“We finally came to the realization that unless we were a full partner in U.S. Special Operations Command we probably weren’t making maximum use of the Marine Corps’ capabilities.”

That is true, the Marine Corps capabilites are there to support the Marine Operations.

Marine Special Operations Command

Now isn’t it about time. The few and proud will soon have their own SpecOps branch.

WASHINGTON, Nov. 1 (UPI) — Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld Monday approved the creation of a new branch of special operations forces composed of U.S. Marines.

While for several years the Marine Corps has been working closely with Army Special Forces to augment their capabilities, it has not until now had a separate special forces unit of its own.

Marine Special Operations Command, organized under U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), will have three elements: the Marine Special Operations Regiment for direct action missions; the Foreign Military Training Unit for helping foreign militaries; and the Marines Special Operations Support Group to provide intelligence, logistics and fire support coordination.

MARSOC will have about 2,600 personnel.

Lt. Gen. John Sattler, commander of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, said Monday the unit will draw on the most experienced Marines, and is a continuation of work already underway.

“This started 18 to 24 months ago,” Sattler said. “In sequence it’s the best next step to go ahead and formalize it.”

Churchill is still at it

I don’t know why he hasn’t been fired yet? I just don’t understand why Colorado University allows this turd to stay on the staff.
Chaya Gil has a first person account of the event in St. Paul where this moron is doing more of his trash America talk.

He spoke about 9/11. He watched it on that day on three channels, and heard them all calling it repeatedly a “senseless” killing. But he knew right away that it was not senseless, there were reasons. Perhaps he wouldn’t agree with the reasons, but it certainly had reasons, it wasn’t “senseless.” The next day, bin Laden listed the reasons: (1) USA killed 500,000 Iraqi children. (2) The Israelis shooting stone-throwing children in Palestine. (3) The presence of Americans in Saudi Arabia. He personally thinks that the third reason is not equal to the first two, although he also doesn’t see any reason why the US should be in Saudi Arabia, still it’s not as good a reason as the first two. So 9/11 wasn’t “senseless.”

Churchill denies American Thinker quotations

He said that Madeline Albright admitted that 500,000 Iraqi children were killed in Iraq because of the UN sanctions imposed by the US, and that it was justified in order to fight Sadam Hussein. (Albright never said any such thing, of course). After watching our stunned reaction, he added: “Hitler exterminated the wrong people. He should have exterminated your American grandparents instead of the Jews,” because of the evil deeds the Americans have done for generations, exploiting and oppressing people all over the world, killing 500,000 Iraqi children who are not less valuable than any American, and perhaps more valuable.

At least the American thinker makes corrections:

UPDATE 3: Thanks to Andrew Marcus’s cleaned-up audio version available here, we can now hear Churchill’s words clearly. It is evident that he was quoting from an email, as he claimed in the Denver Post article. We regret the error in failing to note the context of the quotation, which itself was reasonably accurate, considering that no note taking was possible. The intent of the thought was not attributable to Churchill directly, as was originally indicated. Incidentally, the quoted words were spoken in a louder tone of voice than the remarks about an email, which may account for the omission of the context.

It appears that all other aspects of our reporting of his address were fully accurate. Had DePaul and Churchill permitted open recording and note taking of his remarks, the error would not have been made. The forbidding of recording of remarks and banning of the press is both suspicious in itself and an invitation to errors.

Someone needs to shove a sock in his pie hole!

RINO Alert!

We know it is a bad thing when The Honorable Dianne Feinstein agrees with a Republican. but this is a RINO amendment.

Mrs. FEINSTEIN: Mr. President, I rise in support of Senate Amendment 1977, introduced by my colleague Senator McCain.

This amendment would bring much-needed clarity to the rules governing how Americans treat captured prisoners and detainees.

It will make clear that the Geneva Conventions apply to all people held in the custody of the Department of Defense.

It provides a workable definition of “cruel and inhumane,” based on the rules which govern how we treat criminals in the United States, and based firmly in the Constitutional prohibitions of cruel and unusual punishment.

Most importantly, it sets rules that are clear, simple and in accord with basic American values.

Red State Patriot has a good review of the facts

It’s time once again for Congress to fund the Defense Department with a FY 2006 Defense Appropriations Bill. The $440 billion military spending bill, known as: H.R. 2863, was recently amended by none other than Arizona Senator John McCain. The Amendment, SA 1977 was submitted on 10/3/2005. The stated purpose of SA 1977 was related to persons under the detention, custody or control of the United States Government and McCain’s amendment, if you can believe it, extends to foreign spies, terrorists, and Islamic jihadists the same rights U.S. citizens enjoy under the Constitution.

On the face of it, what’s wrong with that? More than you can imagine! Amendment SA 1977 is specifically intended to restrict United States intelligence gathering efforts and intimidate those in charge of prisoner interrogations.

I say I would rather Nuke Mecca and KILL all terrorists before one more American dies! why does John (RINO) McCaint wants to make the people that really want to KILL us comfortable?
