Iran & Russia: Deals with the Devil

The headlines about Iran, yesterday, read like a typical peace party playbook from Europe. They have to make it look legit by using terms suggesting “the Americans” are going along with the act.

Nov. 21 (Bloomberg)– The U.S. and its European allies won’t seek this week to refer the issue of Iran’s nuclear program to the United Nations Security Council, in order to give more time for an agreement that would permit uranium enrichment to take place in Russia, French and German diplomats said.

“There is a general assessment, with the Americans, that this is not the right time,” French Ambassador Jean-Marc de La Sabliere said today. “It may happen, but not this time. The situation is not mature enough.”

The situation isn’t mature enough? Says who? EU nations? Russia? What is their idea of mature when it comes to the threat of an Iran with nuclear weapons?

Under the proposed agreement, Iran wouldn’t be allowed to complete the nuclear fuel cycle by enriching uranium. Converted uranium would be transported to Russia for full enrichment, the UN would monitor its use in Iran, and the spent fuel would go back to Russia.

Anyone who trusts Russia to do the right thing is crazy. I’m not even sure this is the right thing; doing business with Iran is like playing with the devil. Russia’s motives cannot be in the best interests of freedom.

Today, I read a headline with a threat from Iran:

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran’s president on Tuesday confirmed his government would start enriching uranium and end U.N. snap inspections of nuclear facilities if its case were referred to the U.N. Security Council.

Iranian lawmakers on Sunday overwhelmingly voted these retaliatory measures into law, attempting to give the Islamic Republic some leverage before a board of governors meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Thursday.

“We follow the parliament and will definitely implement its bills,” President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told state television.

The Iranian president is a madman. He speaks with an evil tone and his demeanor is not trustworthy. Kind of like Saddam once did. When are we going to put him out of his glory? These regimes must be destroyed and new, freedom loving Iranian citizens must be enabled to take over their own governments. There are enough people over there who would do this and do it right. Why the US is dilly-dallying around this issue baffles me. It wouldn’t take much to go in, dispose of this crazy government in Iran, and put in place some good people. It could be done overnight without any media attention. It’s time to take the War On Terror to a higher place.
