Senator Frist’s Blog

Senator Frist has blogged about today’s actions and offers some details…

Specifically, the latest bill proposes to:

Border Enforcement Specifics:

* Add nearly 15,000 additional border protection agents to augment the 20,000 Customs and Border Protection agents already on the job

* Specifically authorize 1,250 border agents and 1,250 port-of entry inspection agents

* Require Defense Department cooperation on the border, e.g. unmanned drones

* Begin the process of securing every inch of our 1,951 mile border with Mexico by building walls and fences in high traffic areas and using sensors to let our Customs and Border Patrol Agents see and hear those who try and cross through low traffic areas

* Require fingerprint database connectivity between FBI and Border Patrol

Read the rest. I still don’t know HOW they will honestly be able to figure out who has been here 2 years, 5 years….

Report The News

Yesterday it was all over blogs and some MSM outlets: NBC Dateline was planning, NO, coordinating a run-in with NASCAR fans and men who looked ARAB. NBC had got themselves some American Muslim and Muslim “volunteers” to show up at many different public places, including NASCAR, to document harrassment. Talk about bias; talk about making news when there isn’t any.

It’s not amnesty. Really.

I’m not sure if I’m supposed to be impressed with this or not…tentatively- I’m pretty let down yet not surprised. This isn’t over yet though as it needs to go to the House next. It’s a confusing bill with lots of potential loopholes and there isn’t much here about keeping the borders really secure. It’s a bunch of crap really since most of it was authored by McKennedy (McCain and Kennedy).

Delusional and nihilistic propaganda

Good for him. Tancredo bitch slaps the Principal…

Dear Principal Shepherd,

I was astonished to learn that officials at Shaw Heights recently threatened an honor student with disciplinary action for wearing a red sweater, a white T-shirt, and blue jeans. The student was apparently reprimanded for violating the newly formulated dress code banning “clothing that makes a political statement,” purportedly because of the color combination she chose.

To say that it is disturbing to see school administrators spending their time and limited resources scrutinizing the color combinations of students’ clothes in search of hidden political messages would be an understatement. As a former educator, I am frankly shocked by how far afield the public education apparatus appears to have wandered.

When teachers like Jay Bennish and Ward Churchill transform our classrooms into personal platforms to disseminate delusional and nihilistic propaganda, the education establishment seems too paralyzed to respond. Yet when students take the initiative to passively express pro-American sentiments by, for example, sewing a stars-and-stripes flag patch on a backpack (or choosing a red, white, and blue outfit, evidently) school administrators are quick to discipline, punish, regulate and suppress.

I believe this kind of double standard sends the wrong message to students, and I hope that you and other administrators who have recently implemented these kinds of misguided policies will seriously consider rescinding them.

Sincerely,

/s/

Tom Tancredo
Member of Congress
