McCaint In NH Today

John Mcaint was in New Hampshire today… and he got an earful.

CONCORD, N.H. –Fresh from watching his immigration plan disintegrate in Washington, Sen. John McCain continued to defend it Friday in New Hampshire, where even one of his critics said he’d still back the Arizona Republican if he runs for president again.

“That’s not amnesty, amnesty is forgiveness. We’re not forgiving anything,” McCain said. “If you disagree with me, let me know if you’ve got a better idea, let me know.”

“I disagree!” a man in the audience yelled.

“Don’t we already have a guest worker program?” Ron Dupuis asked McCain. “Don’t we already have one, and it’s called the green card? Don’t we have to enforce the laws we already have?”

“We don’t have a viable program and one reason is so many people are able to work illegally,” McCain said. “We have to have only one document that can be used by an employer to hire somebody … the status quo is not satisfactory.”

Another man asked McCain what would happen if illegal immigrants lied about how long they had been in the country.

“You’re gonna expect people who’ve been here a year or two or three not to say they’ve been here five years?” he asked.

“They have to have proof,” McCain told him. “They have to have work records.”

I wouldn’t have been SO nice.

About making judgements

Heh…mixed in all the news events of this past week was the story of the Homeland Security deputy press secretary Brian J. Doyle being caught, red handed, and arrested for online predatory behavior. He was caught in an sting trying to arrange a meeting with (who he thought was) a 14 year old girl…

Rock on Ogre!

We are very proud of our friend and fellow blogger Ogre. Currently he is at a conference for conservatives in North Carolina, live blogging the discussions and other events.

Some of the topics:::

NCCLC Budget and Taxes-
In North Carolina, the Democrats start the year with this enormous budget — They START there. And then the Democrats go behind closed doors and add and make any changes they want. When they’re done, they present these literally thousands of pages to the Republicans and force them to vote on it in less than 18 hours.

NCCLC Illegal Immigration-

No “undocumented immigrants” — they have more documents than most people. $480 million per year for education on illegals in NC. $445 million on health care. 1/3 of all uninsured in NC are illegals. Only 15% of illegals in NC are doing argicultural jobs. Immigrants have a HIGHER rate of unemployment than citizens.

He was overjoyed to hear that the U.S. Senate today did not come to an agreement that would have granted amnesty and created guest worker programs (no matter what the Senators called them). It now appears that there may be no vote on anything this year regarding illegal immigrants.

Ogre, rock on friend. Michael and I and MANY others are reading, gaining perspectives and learning new facts about the issues that effect NC…in reality- these effect every state!
OH and yeah…FOOD…I want pictures of the FOOD mmMMmm.

Academic Royal Rumble

I watched a little of this last night…what a circus Ward Feather Fondler Churchill is. His carefully managed appearance, strategically grey-streaked hair and total disrespect for the families of Sept. 11th…his attitudes toward teaching should cause every parent to HIGHLY discourage their kids from attending CU.

Border Security Vs. Railroads

To secure the border, the bill calls for a virtual fence — as opposed to the literal barrier contained in House legislation — consisting of surveillance cameras, sensors and other monitoring equipment along the long, porous border with Mexico.

Finally…we find something about how they are planning to secure the border. But isn’t this just cosmetic? Will these measures really be effective?
