Another $10 Billion

What is wrong with our elected officials? Have they all gone corrupt? It sure seems so.
The Bronx Council on the Arts, the Arrowhead Center at New Mexico State University and the Rhode Island School of Design suffered no known damage from Hurricane Katrina.
But they’re among dozens of institutions across the nation sharing the billions of dollars Congress appropriated to repair devastation in New Orleans and on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
A supplemental spending bill for the war in Iraq and hurricane recovery passed the House of Representatives last month calling for $92 billion in federal spending.
The Senate added $14 billion for hurricane relief, and another $10 billion in unrelated spending in amendments to be debated when Congress returns this week. Because of the differences in the two spending packages, the bill then will go to a conference committee before final votes in both chambers.
Another $10 Billion?? WTF is this about? A lot of people appreciate art and all that crap, but we don’t appreciate Congress using our tax money to fund it. Guess it’s time to fire off another letter or 20 to those I have voted for…
