Micheal’s away for a bit

Damn…these things suck. Michael is my best blog friend, and he is in the midst of some hard times. Please say a prayer for him and his family.

Until the day when God shall deign to reveal the future to man, all human wisdom is summed up in these two words,–’Wait and hope’.

Cooking For The Marines

If you like to cook,( grille), and you like steak AND if you like the Marines, you’ll want to get this cookbook LOL.

U.S. Marines stand to benefit from a cookbook released by Weber-Stephens Products Co. “Command of the Grill — A Salute to Steak” features grilled steak recipes from active, reserve and famous former U.S. Marines. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the 80-page cookbook will go to four charities that directly benefit U.S. Marines wounded or killed in the line of duty and their families.

Many of the recipes in the book were selected from 10 Command of the Grill grilling semi-final competitions held at Marine Corps bases across the country in 2005.

Proceeds go to the following charities: Wounded Warrior Project, Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, Fisher House and Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation.

The cookbook is released this month and will sell for $10. For more information, go to www.weber.com. or call 1-800-GRILL-OUT.

I just ordered my copies (got some for gifts..)

Semper Fidelis Memorial Park

Some friends and I got together a few months back and pooled our money…for three bricks. We each have a person in our lives who deserves to be honored this way. It may look like a lot of money, but it’s for a great cause and I will be visiting the museum once it opens in November.

Marines can now cement their place in Marine Corps History.

When the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico, Va., opens in November, spectators will be able to walk through Semper Fidelis Memorial Park, which overlooks the museum’s structure.

Within the park’s winding pathways leading up to the rally points will lay thousands of bricks that will be engraved with the names of Marines and loved ones. According to the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation Web site, “the rally points will be places to reflect upon the sacrifices past and present Marines make to protect our nation.”

According to retired Col. Raymond Hord, vice president of Development & Marketing for the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, anyone can buy a brick for himself or a loved one.

“To honor a family member, or perhaps a friend, [or] a comrade that may have even passed on, this is a wonderful opportunity to be able to memorialize a name in Semper Fidelis Memorial Park,” said Hord. Once the museum opens, there will be touch-screen kiosks located within the museum that will allow people to find a specific brick within the park, added Hord.

Bricks are $300 each, and proceeds will go toward helping the National Museum of the Marine Corps in its goal of preserving Marine Corps history. Each brick can have up to three lines, with 20 characters on each line, and anything can be engraved on the bricks, such as the Marine’s name, rank, time in service or unit. Anyone interested in purchasing a brick can do so by downloading an order form online at www.marineheritage.org.

Order forms should be sent in soon because the space for bricks is limited, and the bricks will be installed in the order in which registrations are received. The park has enough room for 17,000 engraved bricks, but only 7,300 bricks will be laid for the museum’s opening on Nov. 10. Order forms should be sent in by mid-July, which will allow construction workers enough time to lay in the bricks for the dedication ceremony. Bricks can also be purchased after the museum opens, until the park is completed in 2007.

Five to seven years of hell

Hmm…Mr. Zinni’s book must not be selling as many copies as he would like.

(CNSNews.com) - Retired U.S. Marine Corps Gen. Anthony Zinni claimed Thursday that the Bush administration’s reliance on “old conventions and old rules” continues to undermine its military mission in Iraq. And instead of preparing for the sight of U.S. servicemen and women returning home from Iraq, Zinni said Americans should anticipate another “five to seven years of hell.”

Old conventions and old rules eh? Seems to me that you, Mr. Zinni and several others like you wanted to fight this war with the old tools and mindsets.

“We face a different kind of enemy today,” Zinni said. “Traditionally we’ve always seen enemies as being sovereign states or alliances of sovereign states that had an alien ideology that we would confront. That all has changed.”

Yes it has changed, but you infact have not. These words, “a different kind of enemy” are now being used by people like you as a defense for your treasonous behavior and actions…your outright temper tantrum that your way isn’t the right way…typical of the loser- you change the wording and re-frame this.

Americans “don’t seem to understand this new world,”

Don’t tell me what isn’t understood. I take issue with this. YOU don’t understand. Democrats and the French and similar minded people DON’T understand. None of you take this threat seriously, it shows with your words and actions. Your temper tantrum isn’t selling too many books is it? Maybe because people are offended by your assumptions of their stupidity?
