Tempe Town Lake Park

On September 11, 2006 I went to the Tempe Town Lake Park for a walk through “The Healing Field”
I just wanted to see this tribute and how it would affect me. What I saw moved me more than I would have thought possible. What I saw made me mad at these people that think terror is a honorable way to fight against a group of peaceful people…
There were single flags, but none of them were alone. Each flag was 4 feet from the next flag.
You can see this park has one flag posted for each victim of the September 11, 2001 Terrorist attacks .OK I couldn’t get all of the flags in one picture. There are to many of them.

One of the pictures I saw was of a mother and Father taking a picture of their child in front of the flags. I was thinking this was a way of remembering that even though this is about remembering those we lost on that day. we need to remember that there is more living to do and things to focus on and children to raise.
One of the cool things was that you could buy a flag from off the field. They would replace it immediately with a new flag but you could get the flag from the field. Here I am pulling my new flag off hte field.
And here is the Tribute staff replacing the flag with a new one.

I’d love to see the park, but I don’t know when I’ll next get out that way.
It looks magnificent (not to be confused with “the beasts”). I like the idea that you can buy a flag from the field like that. I hope a lot of people do and mount them on the fronts of their houses to show that theirs are the homes of patriotic Americans.

Wow! There’s nothing more for me to say.
