Duration plus 6 months
Matt at Black Five rips Charlie “Brown” Rangel to shreads and points out an option that I might be able to get behind. Yes, that would mean I would have to go too.
I would activate everybody (Reserves, NG, Retired, IRR) with the message that you’re in for the duration of the war plus six months. Instead of a draft, this would get most people to understand what is at stake and that we are committed to victory. It’s a WWII mentality, rather than a “police action” mentality.
I like Victory. and it will also send a message to the Terrorists! “We will win, you will die!”

The Rangel angle has nothing to do with winning or necessity. It has to do with reliving the glory days of the Vietnam war protests. What better way to turn the great unwashed masses against the war? Dig up that perennial bogeyman the DRAFT! Rangel has been calling for the draft since GWB got into office, he needs the draft to justify his belief that only the poor, uneducated booger eatin morons join the service. This will not get any traction as Mizz Nancy is already putting the kabash on it. Cheap parlour tricks, get used to it. There are plenty more to come.
