Thinking Bloggers

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Cotillion sister and blogging friend Chrissie passed this BLOGGING AWARD to me yesterday. I was very surprised and it really made my day. I haven’t been able to place a lot of effort into blogging lately, due to school and work and life. When one gets something like this, it reminds us why we do this- blogging. To cause others to think.

This is actually a meme of sorts. The idea is to THINK of 5 other bloggers who have made YOU THINK. There are so many excellent bloggers out there and a few of them I call friends. In that, I am PROUDLY passing this onto to these fine people who DO make me THINK and who do deserve this award much more than I do:

They Won’t Vote For Shillary

This is excellent news.

Half of voting-age Americans say they would not vote for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) if she became the Democratic nominee for president in 2008, according to a Harris Interactive poll released Tuesday.

More than one in five Democrats that participated in the survey said they would not vote for Clinton. Overall, 36 percent say they would vote for the former first lady and 11 percent are unsure of their top choice.

Forty-eight percent of Independent voters also said that they would choose another candidate over Clinton, the poll, which surveyed 2,223 potential voters, states.

Fifty-six percent of men said that they would not vote for Clinton, while 45 percent of women said that she would not be their pick. In addition, 69 percent of those 62 and older said that they would not vote for Clinton.

Nearly half of the respondents said that they dislike Clinton’s political opinions and Clinton as a person. Fifty-two percent of people also said that “she does not appear to connect with people on a personal level.”

Shillary is a SHAM. She’s not ready to run this country; she never will be. She’s a dishonest player in the field and I think most people can see through her phoniness. Thankfully Americans aren’t as dumb as they sometimes come across.

U.S. Marine special operations company: Expelled

Uh oh.

WASHINGTON (Map, News) - The top American general in Afghanistan has expelled a U.S. Marine special operations company for the way the men responded to an ambush March 4, Marine sources said.

Maj. Cliff Gilmore, a spokesman for Marine Special Operations Command, confirmed to The Examiner that the company of 120 Marines is redeploying.

He said the decision followed an ambush on the company’s convoy by a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device. A second Marine source said the Marines retaliated and some civilians were killed.

The action brought an abrupt end to what promised to be a historic deployment. The unit sailed in January from Camp Lejuene, N.C., as the first Marine Corps special operations company sent overseas. The Corps joined U.S. Special Operations Command a year ago.

So the first mission of MARSOC has failed? Or is there more here than they’re telling us??

The company is now redeploying to Kuwait after just a few weeks in Afghanistan in what was supposed to be a six-month tour.

A Marine officer assigned to special operations said Lt. Gen. Karl Eikenberry, the top U.S. commander, took the extraordinary step of expelling the unit after he consulted with Afghan Prime Minister Hamid Karzai.

A spokesman for Eikenberry could not be reached today.

Gilmore said, “The unit responded to the ambush and the local population perceptions of that response have damaged the relationship between the local population and the Marine special operations company.”

You know…we shouldn’t even be reading stories about ANY special ops activity. I wonder what the motivation for this “article” really is??

Meet Me In St. Louis

Right before the Annual Buy a Gun Day (BAG day) in St Louis

There’s an event taking place next month that strikes fear into the hearts of gun banners everywhere.  Tens of thousands of gun owners will be getting together, celebrating America’s First Freedom, learning more about their rights and how to get involved, and showing this country that gun owners are a powerful political force.  It’s the NRA’s 136th Annual Meetings and Exhibits, and I want you to be there.
Every Annual Meeting is a huge event, but this year we’ve got more battles than ever taking place around the country.  The Castle Doctrine, Katrina-related legislation, Right-to-Carry, bans on semi-automatic firearms and ending private sales of firearms at gun shows, and more.  The Second Amendment is being attacked like never before.
That’s why I want to see you in St. Louis.  Browse acres of guns and gear at thousands of booths in the convention center, and enjoy the free Opening Celebration show, the Members Meeting, and the Members Banquet.  You can also attend a grassroots workshop, panels on media bias and seminars on concealed carry, women’s issues and lots of other topics.
You’ll leave St. Louis ready to take on the anti-gun forces where you live, armed with knowledge and backed by four million of your closest friends.
So mark your calendar for April 13th, and get more information at NRA.org.
And I’ll see you when the NRA meets in St. Louis!

I am already scooping out my next gun purchase…I might be able to sneak away for a good cause day in St. Louis, want to join me?

Mount Suribachi: 62 Years

“We are here today, to do as we have done a number of times before — to jointly pay honor to those on both sides of the battle who made the supreme sacrifice on this island by giving their lives to their nations,” said retired Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Lawrence F. Snowden during the ceremony. The United States lost 6,821 servicemen during the battles, mostly Marines, and it is believed as many as 20,000 Japanese soldiers died.

“Those of us who where fighting on this island 62 years ago were not here by choice but once we were here, each of us did what we had to do.”

Read this and remember history.

Rocky Mountain High

The John Denver Song Rocky Mountain High is all about drugs and getting high.

DENVER — The Colorado legislature has approved John Denver’s “Rocky Mountain High” as the official state co-song, but lawmakers made it clear that the 1972 hit has nothing to do with drugs.

After the Colorado politicians made a fool of themselves and approved a cut & run policy in order to blame Bush for losing the war. I think I need a doobie!

Yoda

Raven is Dr. McCoy Kat is Galadriel

I came up as Yoda! but I must say I am a little bit taller than Yoda.

A venerated sage with vast power and knowledge, you gently guide forces around you while serving as a champion of the light.

Judge me by my size, do you? And well you should not - for my ally is the Force. And a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us, and binds us. Luminescent beings are we, not this crude matter! You must feel the Force around you, everywhere.

Yoda is a is a character in the Star Wars universe. More Yoda information is available at the Star Wars Databank.

Defend America first- not their political party

“In January, President Bush outlined his plan to win the war in Iraq. Last week Speaker Pelosi outlined the Democrat plan to end the war in Iraq.

The only problem with that is that as George Orwell wrote, “The quickest way to end a war is to lose it.” I believe that the Democrat plan to micromanage our war in Iraq with benchmarks and deadlines for withdrawal is a prescription for retreat and defeat.

Common sense and the Constitution teach us that Congress can declare war; a Congress can fund or choose not to fund war, but Congress must not ever attempt to conduct war.

So said Rep. Mike Pence yesterday.

And the Lemoncrats (TM) continue to try to alter the course of this war with terrorism, right now in Iraq. They can’t decide which course to take: Run, Cut and Run, Run away with waving white flags, cut the throats of the troops before running…the Lemoncrats have imploded. Fortunately there are enough of them who still seem to love their country.

Some are still adamant about using the power of Congress to perhaps lead to a Constitutional Crisis. The enemy must love this.

“It is far past time that we brought our involvement in this misguided war to a close,” Sen. Russell Feingold (D-Wis.) said on the Senate floor after the vote. “This is binding legislation that would bring to an end our involvement in perhaps the greatest foreign policy mistake in our country’s history.”

He added, “Congress authorized this war, and it is in our power to bring it to a close.” Although he said he supports a stronger measure, Feingold called the resolution “a significant step toward ending the war.”

Another Lemoncrat, who actually supports this war against the worst enemy America has ever faced, speaks well to this:

But I continue to believe that a withdrawal from Iraq, as many are now urging, would be a victory for Iran and Al Qaeda and the cause of Islamist extremism, and a catastrophic defeat for the United States and all who desire peace and security and freedom in the Middle East and here at home.

There is something profoundly wrong when opposition to the war in Iraq seems to inspire greater passion than opposition to Islamist extremism.

There is something profoundly wrong when there is so much distrust of our intelligence community that some Americans doubt the plain and ominous facts about the threat to us posed by Iran.

And there is something profoundly wrong when, in the face of attacks by radical Islam, we think we can find safety and stability by pulling back, by talking to and accommodating our enemies, and abandoning our friends and allies.

Some of this wrong-headed thinking about the world is happening because we’re in a political climate where, for many people, when George Bush says “yes,” their reflex reaction is to say “no.”

That is unacceptable.

Joe Lieberman said these words. I disagree with him on domestic policy, but he is right on target when it comes to national security and the threats we face. He has some wisdom that members of his party should respect. TOO many people have forgotten September 11 2001. Six years is not a long time, but doesn’t it seem like that awful day happened A LONG time ago now? We can’t forget. It was a warning; the first act in a long series of attacks that have probably been planned before that day. The enemy is watching us. Watching our House of Elected Representatives fight over petty issues regarding troops and money and placing politics above lives. I expect MORE of them. We all should. Our country’s future depends upon our current crop of leaders decisions and actions. So much is at stake. Cutting and running is not the answer. No one ever said defending freedom was free of wars, pain, hurt, wounded men and women who fought in the battles. No one ever claimed America was not hated by many who envy what we are. BUT everyone of these representatives HAS taken an oath to defend and protect the Constitution of the United States. It seems to me they are working against that precious document and in the process they are dividing the States. Enough already. I have once again written to my reps and Congressmen, of both parties, to implore them to defend America first- not their political party.

The Soldier Stood And Faced God

The soldier stood and faced God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining, just as brightly as his brass.

“Step forward now, you soldier, how shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To My Church have you been true?”

The soldier squared his shoulders and said, “No, Lord, I guess I haven’t, because those of us who carry guns, Can’t always be a saint.

I’ve had to work most Sundays, and at times my talk was tough. And sometimes I’ve been violent, because the world is awfully rough.

But, I never took a penny, that wasn’t mine to keep…

Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help, though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God, forgive me, I’ve wept unmanly tears.

I know I don’t deserve a place, among the people here.

They never wanted me around, except to calm their fears.

If you’ve a place for me here, Lord, It needn’t be so grand. I never expected or had too much, but if you don’t, I’ll understand.”

There was a silence all around the throne, where the saints had often trod. As the soldier waited quietly for the judgment of his God.

“Step forward now, you soldier, you’ve borne your burdens well. Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets; you’ve done your time in Hell.”
