Defend America first- not their political party

“In January, President Bush outlined his plan to win the war in Iraq. Last week Speaker Pelosi outlined the Democrat plan to end the war in Iraq.
The only problem with that is that as George Orwell wrote, “The quickest way to end a war is to lose it.†I believe that the Democrat plan to micromanage our war in Iraq with benchmarks and deadlines for withdrawal is a prescription for retreat and defeat.
Common sense and the Constitution teach us that Congress can declare war; a Congress can fund or choose not to fund war, but Congress must not ever attempt to conduct war.
So said Rep. Mike Pence yesterday.
And the Lemoncrats (TM) continue to try to alter the course of this war with terrorism, right now in Iraq. They can’t decide which course to take: Run, Cut and Run, Run away with waving white flags, cut the throats of the troops before running…the Lemoncrats have imploded. Fortunately there are enough of them who still seem to love their country.
Some are still adamant about using the power of Congress to perhaps lead to a Constitutional Crisis. The enemy must love this.
“It is far past time that we brought our involvement in this misguided war to a close,” Sen. Russell Feingold (D-Wis.) said on the Senate floor after the vote. “This is binding legislation that would bring to an end our involvement in perhaps the greatest foreign policy mistake in our country’s history.”
He added, “Congress authorized this war, and it is in our power to bring it to a close.” Although he said he supports a stronger measure, Feingold called the resolution “a significant step toward ending the war.”
Another Lemoncrat, who actually supports this war against the worst enemy America has ever faced, speaks well to this:
But I continue to believe that a withdrawal from Iraq, as many are now urging, would be a victory for Iran and Al Qaeda and the cause of Islamist extremism, and a catastrophic defeat for the United States and all who desire peace and security and freedom in the Middle East and here at home.
There is something profoundly wrong when opposition to the war in Iraq seems to inspire greater passion than opposition to Islamist extremism.
There is something profoundly wrong when there is so much distrust of our intelligence community that some Americans doubt the plain and ominous facts about the threat to us posed by Iran.
And there is something profoundly wrong when, in the face of attacks by radical Islam, we think we can find safety and stability by pulling back, by talking to and accommodating our enemies, and abandoning our friends and allies.
Some of this wrong-headed thinking about the world is happening because we’re in a political climate where, for many people, when George Bush says “yes,” their reflex reaction is to say “no.”
That is unacceptable.
Joe Lieberman said these words. I disagree with him on domestic policy, but he is right on target when it comes to national security and the threats we face. He has some wisdom that members of his party should respect. TOO many people have forgotten September 11 2001. Six years is not a long time, but doesn’t it seem like that awful day happened A LONG time ago now? We can’t forget. It was a warning; the first act in a long series of attacks that have probably been planned before that day. The enemy is watching us. Watching our House of Elected Representatives fight over petty issues regarding troops and money and placing politics above lives. I expect MORE of them. We all should. Our country’s future depends upon our current crop of leaders decisions and actions. So much is at stake. Cutting and running is not the answer. No one ever said defending freedom was free of wars, pain, hurt, wounded men and women who fought in the battles. No one ever claimed America was not hated by many who envy what we are. BUT everyone of these representatives HAS taken an oath to defend and protect the Constitution of the United States. It seems to me they are working against that precious document and in the process they are dividing the States. Enough already. I have once again written to my reps and Congressmen, of both parties, to implore them to defend America first- not their political party.
