Colorado, the blue state

Why are gas taxes so high and still not enough to support the road system?

The state will need billions more dollars than it is expected to have over the next few decades to keep up with highway construction and maintenance. Tolls can provide a vital complement to taxes and fees as a funding source, so it’s encouraging to see tolling taken seriously.

Because our elected idiots spend the money on pet social projects instead of on the roads. What I don’t understand is how we keep electing these people that have no understanding of how money works. they live on credit…

The idea is to have these new high-occupancy toll or HOT lanes carry solo drivers who pay tolls, along with buses and car-poolers. The new lanes would eventually complement Bus Rapid Transit, a part of FasTracks that is supposed to run within the same corridor.

How about the idea that government spend only what it takes in, and on specific purpose that it was collected for.

Uh oh…this sounds scary. Like Taxachusetts. Really. They have high tolls, lots of them and the worst damn roads and highways of any state up my way. The grassy knolls between the big highways are nice and pretty…but the roads themselves just SUCK to high heaven and back.
