Just a thought

If we secure the boarders like we should, will inflation soar?

Cost of labor should rise once the supply starts to wane and is this the reason (screwed up as it is) that Bush is trying to give amnesty? Avoid Inflation at all costs? Is this to enable a legacy of good economy and low inflation? Is he a real supply side economics man? Does he care about Americans Any more?

If so, what are the drivers for the socialists, unionists, etc…?

This is what really scares me?

More than half the big unions don’t like this draft bill. Why? Because it means less money for them. The illegals, who would suddenly become legal still won’t make decent wages- not nearly enough to pay union dues.
AND the unions are feeling heat from American workers who have lost their jobs.

The politics of all this are horrible too. Both parties have much to gain if they play their cards right. Dems get votes, GOP gets votes– each is hoping. I bet neither will get much…

The big winner in this is businesses. Who place (high) profit above all else, including the integrity of the American dream, the American citizen. We can’t be fooled by this: Once these 12 million illegals become “Legal” they’re all gonna lose their jobs too- because they will suddenly rate better pay, benefits, taxes, ect. So, the border will never be closed and secured. Keep the endless supply of cheap labor coming through…as we keep funding the government programs designed to house, feed, medicate and clothe these people.

Inflation? Just wait. When more American citizens are not working than are, we will see the real meaning of inflation as in depression.

    lol

I think you’re right about Bush looking for his legacy; and I give Bush credit for one thing in all this; He hasn’t changed his tune one bit. He’s always pushed for this immigration overhaul- it was one of the things he spoke about during his original campaign.

These polecats in DC have not even looked at the numbers and real dollars and cents all this WILL cost us. Its in the billions now; when they legalize 12 million more people it’s gonna triple- and we’ll just go on about our lives not caring. Until it’s our job. And in about 15 to 20 yrs we’re gonna see a deficit quadruple and social security and other welfare programs either run out of money or, more likely, we’ll be asked to fund it via higher taxes. Much higher taxes.

I have to find the links but some people at the different think tanks (on both political sides) have done the math and looked at the industries that are seeking immigrant workers. It’s not just the lettuce pickers- it’s nursing, doctors, lawyers, anything computers, law enforcement- all occupations. College degrees will mean little if it’s a task orientated or customer service driven career. It used to be manufacturing and service sector jobs. Not anymore.

I blame greedy business AND greedy Americans. Unions workers who demand $50.00/hr to work in an auto plant watching a robot do it’s thing…nursing unions that demand excessive pay for the work; I don’t blame businesses for looking elsewhere for employees. But it’s gotten out of control and it’s placed America in jeopardy. We CAN find a balance. There IS a need for some immigrant visas for certain occupations- I see the need. Let’s do it right and let’s not screw over the rest of us in the process. And let’s not allow the threats of Shillarisms to alter our thinking on this. BOTH political parties have a common goal in this- votes. Not my vote but that of an illegal immigrant.
