Job Description: The candidate will be assigned to the Target Defeat Mechanisms & Warhead Technology Engineering Staff within the Mechanical Subsystem Directorate. This staff is responsible for evaluating the full spectrum of warheads required to defeat specific targets. Staff is responsible for support and control of the subcontractor for subsystem concept development, mechanical design, prototype design, process development, integration, effectiveness, production transition, and high-rate production of missile warhead systems. Staff is responsible for supporting the Systems Engineering organization by performing analyses and coordination with the Government safety review board.
Candidate will work under general direction and independently determine and develop approach to solutions in warhead development system design, development and manufacturing problems. Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions / recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources. Candidate must have general knowledge of other related disciplines including management of engineering resources and budgets for product design and development programs and proposals and support manufacturing operations within various product lines for all warhead systems.
The tasks may include warhead system design, analysis, test & evaluation, effectiveness predictions, manufacturing process development, and technical oversight of subcontractors to include: 1) generation of Statements-of-Work, 2) Specifications, 3) Fact-finding, and Negotiations, 4) reduction of test data or generation of warhead performance data files for use in performance assessments and requirements compliance and 5) support the generation of safety analyses as required to support safety organization requests. Candidate must be willing to travel to suppliers, government facilities and must be able to obtain a clearance at a minimum of secret level.
Required Skills: BS graduate with a minimum of 8 years experience in target defeat mechanisms and warhead technologies including:
* Blast and Fragmentation Warheads
* Penetrator Forming Warhead
* Kinetic Energy Penetrator
* Hard Target Penetator
* Electromagnetic
* Reaction Mechanisms
* Armor Mechanisms
In addition, the candidate must have knowledge of:
* Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, Power Point & Project) Experience
* Project Management
* Energetic Diagnostic Test and Evaluation (T&E)
* Ordnance Manufacturing Process Technologies
* Insensitive Munitions mitigation technology (design, materials)
Desired Skills: Post graduate with a minimum of 15 years experience in warhead technology. Subject matter expert in one or more specific warhead applications is highly desired. Experience in the technical management of subcontracts on Government programs a plus. Existing secret or higher clearance is highly desirable. In addition, specific experience with the following is a plus:
* Earned Value Management
* Energetic Subsystem Integration
* Advanced Technologies (EFIs, Multipoint Initiation , Hard Target Survivability, etc)
* Pro-Engineer
Required Education (incl Major): BS Mechanical Engineering or Applied Physics.

    hmm

    I think I like the jobs I recently applied for, better. LOL They’re simpler, less complicated, less techy sounding, more human centered. But the job descriptions are much longer than this…all of them. Weird.

    War heads? Nah, not my thing. Nursing? That’s my thing.
