Go Daddy Going Down?
Mar 12th 2008RavenGeek Stuff & Raven
I went through GoDaddy to register my domains for my sites; I’ve been hearing bits of negative feedback lately about their hosting services. Now stories are getting more and more common:
GoDaddy is the registrar of several of my domain names. While I do think that their web hosting is crap, so far they have performed well as a registrar.
That being said, it looks like other people are not having the same luck with their services lately. Yesterday Mashable covered the story of a website that was suspended by GoDaddy due to “suspicious activity.”
Browsing around the web I also came across a website called NoDaddy, which is dedicated to report horror stories from users that got damaged by the company.
Read how GD screws over customers. I wonder how long this company can stay open for business with practices like these? Good thing there are alternatives.

When Ogre and I were designing blogs we had mega issues with GoDaddy and several of the blog designers refuse to do a GoDaddy site. Their tech support is horrible and they don’t have the support you need.

Yeah I’ve heard this too– a friend had a site up through GD, as host. Pfft there was no support and when you DID find someone to contact about it, they charged HUNDREDS of dollars. In this day and age these stories cannot be good for business. There are plenty of alternatives and from what I am seeing and hearing, people are ditching GD left and right.
Ahh the free markets. Works wonders.

As a man with manly genitalia I do love their commercials though. I think that’s about all they have going for them.

From what I hear “nodaddy.com” has nothing to do with web hosting and you get in trouble with statutory laws for visiting. Could be mistaken though.
