Elk Hunting
Sep 3rd 2008MichaelColorado & Hunting
Elk Hunting is hard work and the experience is well worth it.
here are some pictures from this last week
Trying to be an extreme hunter I packed everything I would need for my hunting trip to stay on the mountain. After 3 nights I figured I would relax in the comfort of a cabin.
Here are some views form the Colorado Mountains (near Winter Park/Mary Jane Ski park)
In Grand Lake area, The two little hills are call little chicken for snowmobiles. the mountain in the back ground is called supper chicken also known as gravel mountain.
Here are some pictures of the devastation of the beetle kill in Grand County. It really is a bad sight
This is from the mountain above Bowen Lake on Bowen Gulch at about 11,600 ft above sea level.
for the area see google maps
This was walking on Blue Ridge from Bowen Mountain south at 11,500 Ft.
Looking West from Blue Ridge over Lost Lake
Grand Lake (Far Left), Shadow Mountain Reservoir, and Lake Granby ( right in the next picture)
And the Ice age is coming back soon. (even with global warming in the news). This snow pack was hard as ICE and was not from any snow this season.
Looking back at Blue Ridge after I walked this whole distance. It seemed longer than it looks now. my legs are still sore after this day of hiking. And this whole time I didn’t see a single Elk that I could get close to with a Bow.
