I think she is more than just liberal after reading about her past. The term I would use is, unabashed communist. As for rising from humble begininngs, that would describe a large majority of the population.
When Ms. Sotomayor was in her second year at Princeton, this Old Retired Petty Officer was embarking on what turned out to be a 20 year career in REAL Service to the Republic. Coincidentally, this also when the current VP took his seat in the senate. From my point of view, which is biased in favor of me, I have done far more for this Nation than Ms. Sotomayor can ever hope to manage.
