Support the NRA

I have one question for all of your 2 that visit here.

There are laws to prevent the shooting of innocent people, there are laws to prevent robbery, there are laws to prevent battery,

Take a close look at the Illinois legislature these days, and you’ll find the reason why several promising gun control bills have been defeated in the House this month.
In the last couple of weeks, House Republicans from the suburban Chicago area prevented three key bills from moving forward in Springfield. In particular, 16 House Republicans from the suburbs voted against legislation that would have mandated criminal background checks on handgun sales, HB 758, and prohibited the sale of no more than one handgun a month.
In addition, they also voted against another important measure. Currently, Illinois law states that parents are required to safely store firearms so that they are not accessible to children and teens under the age of 14. Another bill would raise that standard to the age of 18.
We need to be absolutely clear about what happened here. This is not a planned uprising among Republicans in favor of specific pieces of gun legislation. It is, rather, a damaging blow against what voters want - a blow largely caused by phone calls and emails delivered repeatedly by the NRA. During this legislative session, House Republicans from suburban Chicago have made decisions on the gun issue based on calls from a vocal and intimidating minority.

Emphasis added

What do these people think will be accomplished with additional laws will stop law abiding people from getting guns to protect themselves when people that don’t abide by the laws we have now will just ignore in the future?

I just donated another $100 to NRA to stop these ignorant people….you should too.

5 inches long and it glitters!!

OOH!! I want some of these for my tree this year…not everyone is as enthused as I am though…

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Nothing says Christmas quite like a glittery black handgun hanging from the tree.

Urban Outfitters Inc. - no stranger to controversial products - is offering the 5-inch-long, Chinese-made gun ornament for $6 in its stores and catalogs this year.

“Bust a cap in your tree with this superglittery ornament in the shape of a handgun, complete with a satin ribbon for hanging,” the online description of the revolver says. It is meant, the retailer says, as an “ironic twist” on the holidays.

“Twisted” is more like it, said Kate Philips, Gov. Rendell’s spokeswoman. “The governor doesn’t find it humorous or clever to display weapons that are responsible for taking hundreds of lives each year as if they are decorations,” she said.

Oh phooey to you Gov. Rendell….Most people I know collect ornaments for their trees that express their interests and hobbies.
So what if it’s a little gun? You’de think it was a crime or something.

Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence

The Brady Campaign lost another vote to disarm honest Americans.

Via of Arms and the Law we get this press release from the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence

To: National Desk:

Contact: Peter Hamm of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, 202-898-0792

WASHINGTON, Sept. 26 /U.S. Newswire/ — Paul Helmke, president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, issued the following statement today regarding the passage of a House bill regarding gun dealers:

“The United States House of Representatives today chose to pass special interest legislation that benefits the law-breaking gun pushers who make money by selling firearms that end up in the hands of killers, muggers and thieves. They ignored the concerns of our nation’s Mayors and law enforcement leaders who opposed this awful bill.

“One must ask the question: When does this end in our country? How many children and police officers must die before our elected members of Congress stop doing the bidding of the gun lobby? Today in Pennsylvania, the families of the victims of gun violence drove for hours to get to the state Capitol to ask for help. In New York, Detroit, Chicago, Denver, Seattle, my home city of Fort Wayne, Ind., and cities all over America, the people want their leaders to get the illegal guns off the streets.

“In Washington, D.C., instead of listening to all of those voices, a loud message was sent to the gun traffickers: Keep the guns coming. That’s a frightening message.

It is a good day in America. Now if the judicial system would enforce the laws we could stop worrying about removing guns from American Citizens.

Boston Mumbles Along

Ohh here he goes. Boston Mayor Mumbles (Thomas) Menino has put together a summit. With mayors from cities all over America. What is the summit about:

GUN CONTROL.

Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino announced today that he and New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg will meet with mayors from more than a dozen other cities next week to discuss working together to prevent gun violence.

Mayors from Philadelphia, Dallas, Miami, Washington D.C., Providence, Seattle, and Trenton, N.J. are also expected to attend the meeting next Tuesday at Gracie Mansion in New York.

Menino, who reached out to Bloomberg in January after hearing him talk about gun violence in his inaugural address, has said he and Bloomberg would form a panel and tour the country asking other mayors to join them in crafting and lobbying for federal legislation to help cities and towns address the issue.

The number of homicides in Boston reached a 10-year high last year. The number of fatal and nonfatal shootings through April 6 this year was 99, up from 57 for the same period last year.

Don’t think it’s not coincidental that Mumbles makes this announcement on Buy A Gun Day.
